McArthur's Bakery Cafe to open Delmar Loop location

Delmar Loop diners won't be waiting much longer for a cafe to replace the St. Louis Bread Co. that closed late last year. McArthur's Bakery Cafe announced this week that it will open a location in the former Bread Co. space at 6630 Delmar Boulevard in University City.

McArthur's Bakery Cafe is the new concept that Scott and Sheila Rinaberger developed after they acquired McArthur's Bakery from the McArthur family in 2014.

The concept debuted in September 2015 at the Kirkwood location at 113 North Kirkwood Road. In addition to the baked goods for which McArthur's is known, the cafe features a menu of sandwiches, soups and salads.

“The response and success of (the Kirkwood) store from those changes were incredible," Rinaberger told the Post-Dispatch on Friday.

While Rinaberger acknowledged that the Loop's demographics are different from Kirkwood's, he said, "It's very similar in its (foot traffic) and community environment. When the Bread Co. left, it kind of left a hole there for that community-based hang."

In addition to the dining room, McArthur's Bakery Cafe in the Loop will feature private meeting rooms and a display kitchen where patrons can watch cakes being decorated.

The Rinabergers are aiming to open this spring.
