WU employee carjacked at gunpoint

A Washington University employee was carjacked at gunpoint early Monday morning on Duncan Avenue in the Central West End, near the Genome Institute at the University.

According to a Washington University Police Department email, the suspects, described as two black males and one unidentifiable male, followed the University employee in a white Dodge Magnum onto Duncan Avenue from Forest Park Avenue.

The suspects reportedly left campus via the intersection of Newstead Avenue and Forest Park Avenue.

The Washington University School of Medicine facilities management department website recommends putting safety first in this kind of situation.

“If a carjacking is involved, toss your keys one way and run in the opposite direction. If the attacker wants your car, he will go after the keys while you escape unharmed. Your objective is to get away,” the site reads.
